Did you know that there are about 25,000 different species of orchids in the world?
Some are edible, others live underground, some grow on rocks and others on soil. However, most grow on trees and other plants. Orchids are found in almost all countries of the world, except Antarctica.
Big Major Cay is one of the paradise islands of the Bahamas.
Crystal clear water, white sand... a true paradise!
So far so normal because it is a common thing in the Bahamas, but this island has something interesting about it...
The only difference is that this island is completely uninhabited, I mean uninhabited by humans, because this island, for a totally unknown reason, is inhabited only by pigs.

Although it may not be as fast as it used to be, 182 years old Jonathan, the giant tortoise, is still going strong. He may be the oldest living turtle, or even living land animal, in the world.

It can take 50 years for a giant tortoise to reach its adult size, meaning that he could have been born in 1832!

In China, giant wasps are attacking people and doing many victims. More than 1600 people have been attacked in three months in which 42 people have died 205 were hospitalized.
The Asian wasp known as Giant Hornet, is the largest in the world.
The explanation of the recent attacks, would be that with the extinction of certain wasp predators such as certain birds or spiders, linked to climate change as the high abnormal heat in these last months that are the wasps specially nervous.

In group, the wasp is known to be a ruthless hunter, the giant hornet attacks typically large insects like crickets and bees and is able to tear the heads of insects in a few seconds with their massive jaws. I expect to climb the humble and wise tree, the branches seen strong enough to handle my weight, Hopefully I've always had great success in climbing, well, most of the times... And so I jump, I hold, I upswing and I pierce through the tree crown! Birds and squirrels flee, alarmed by the creaks and squeaks caused due to all of the excitement I gave the tree's branches and leaves, on my ascent. I'm now at the top of the tree, standing close to the yellow bird's nest I saw from the ground. It's bigger than I Imagined! mother bird flew away, because of the disturbance I created, leaving behind her fluffy, bushy nest, with 3 of her rather huge eggs, resting in it... I feel it may be wrong to take any of the eggs, I can feel each one of those little living creatures inside of them... From the top of the canopy I see a blueberry bush, filled with delicious berries, and... a friend!

The Yellow River is the second longest river in China that has the particularity to be very rich in a type of mud formed from the erosion of rocks of the great Chinese plains. The river is filled with yellow sand that ends up giving this color to the river.
To prevent the river from rising too much because of this excess mud and sand, the Chinese government decided to "empty" the river in the Yellow Sea. Millions of cubic meters of water are dumped, this way, getting rid of the excess mud of the river.

The film Assassin's Creed will be loyal to the game, according to Michael Fassbender.
In an interview with IGN, the actor and producer of the adaptation talked about the long production process:
"We want to respect the game. There are so many cool things in it that actually, we are full of options to put in adaptation, but we also want to introduce new elements and perhaps show our version of what already exists in the game" he said.

Assassin's Creed's script is being rewritten by Adam Cooper and Bill Collage, responsible for Exodus: Gods & Kings, the new project of Ridley Scott. In the first Assassin's Creed, the game, follows the story of Desmond Miles, a bartender in 2012 that learns to be part of a lineage of assassins.
Desmond is placed in a machine that awakens the memories of his ancestors and allows you to relive them personally.
This year, the franchise gets two new games: Assassin's Creed Unity, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, and Assassin's Creed Rogue, for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
You know that old Singer sewing machine that used to be in grandma's house?
Well, the needles of these contraptions have been used as lethal weapons.
On December 23, 1941, the factory of Singer sewing machines, located in Bristol, England, received a strange request: the largest order of sewing machine needles in the whole story. But they were no ordinary needles.The request was full of specifications and conditions. An executive of Singer, intrigued, asked. "We do not know exactly what they want. According to the specifications, it seems that they need needles for another purposeother than sewing machines." He was right: the same request had REALLY nothing to do with sewing. To begin with, the request was made by the Research Center of the British Ministry of War, where they did experiments with chemical and biological weapons.
Researchers there led by British bacteriologist Paul Fildesy, working with Canadian and American scientists - developed a kind of "non-destructive" weapon. Meaning, not in the sense of big explosions. They wanted a highly lethal weapon to be used in open field against enemy troops, but that would not destroy the location as conventional bombs and mustard gas did.
The idea was to develop darts with needles – ordered at Singer – with antraxor ricina. The needle had a small compartment with the toxin and it would be sealed with cotton and wax. To calculate the percentage of hits, tests were conducted on animals. The results impressed: 90% of enemy soldiers, in horizontal position, and 17% of those in the trench would be hit.
The effects of a dart were fatal.
If the soldier plucked the needle out after 30 seconds, he would be dead in less than 30 minutes. If the dart was withdrew before 30 seconds after the hit, within five minutes the victim would collapse incapacitated. Despite the proven destructive effectiveness and low production cost, the Ministry of War aborted the project. The justification was that this weapon was ineffective when it came to hitting targets in buildings or vehicles, something that would be no problem with conventional bombs.
